Not so technologically impaired

I was surprised to get this image in an email from Kate this morning. Together we've decided on getting her the Trek, and judging from her new desktop, she's pretty excited about it. We'll be picking it up from Wheels in Motion on Washtenaw tomorrow after work. If the weather holds out, we'll probably take a ride Northeast to the dam and from there, get onto the paved exercise trail and head West towards Gallup Park.

I'm still bummed I wasn't there with my brother, but Jared kept me plugged in with detailed text messages, a couple of phone calls when the bands were playing and these photos via email after the show.

Just had to replace my car battery & I figured out what was wrong with the old one: it couldn't handle Wavering Radiant.

A second opinion

Today we found a second bike that seems to suit Kate's performance and comfort needs: a Cannondale Quick FĂ©minine 5, women's specific model. It's similar in a lot of ways to the Trek, but has some nicer paint and graphics (the Trek women's line have flower decorations and script logos), and Sram components, which I'm told, are comparable to Shimano's components on the Trek 7.3. I think it's a toss up. She will decide on the one or the other, and will be happy, no doubt, with either.

Kate's thinking about buying a bike

Today, Kate is going to by a bicycle. More than likely a Trek 7.3 FX. She test rode a handful of bikes yesterday, and settled on this one in particular. It was the best fit for her frame and reach, and also the best quality-to-cost ratio. I'm looking forward to see what she decides today. We'll be visiting one more shop, hoping to get her on a couple more bikes for sizing and test rides.

Working

Working at my new job. I've been here about five weeks. I'm a graphic designer, and production worker. I sit in front of an older Mac G5 for 7 hours a day.
